North Carolina Plumbing Practice Exam

The most restrictive requirement applies in situations where different sections of the code specify varying requirements. This principle ensures safety and compliance by adhering to the strictest standards outlined in the code, thereby mitigating potential risks associated with plumbing installations and practices.

By following the most restrictive requirements, plumbing professionals can ensure that all installations meet high safety and performance standards, even when faced with conflicting regulations. This approach is particularly important because some requirements may be established under more stringent safety considerations, reflecting a need for higher standards in certain situations or locations.

This principle of applying the most restrictive requirement helps maintain a uniform standard of safety and reliability in plumbing, which is essential for protecting public health and welfare, ensuring that all systems function properly, and preventing failures that could arise from less stringent regulations.
